Gotta stop...this is going nowhere. I can't decide. There are so many spectacular pieces in the streets, it's unreal. Ask me for my 50 faves and maybe that would narrow them down....
Just think, for example, that ANYTHING Elmac and Retna put up becomes an instant icon.... Or think of the massive "Meeting of Styles"...in fact leave Graffiti totally out of the equation, you still have to deal with the ubiquitous M-BW, the always fresh RTH gang, the spectacular Restitution Press....don't even start.
One thing is very notable though for 2007: Some, if not some of the very best, Streetart I saw I found in Galleries...
The world has turned and left it there.
I haven't posted the new RETNA / ELMAC Buddha yet , this'll have
to do as a nod to the L.A. elders....

do you really think a commissioned billboard is considerable for a true street art piece (referring to the neckface piece, #2)?
I know that that particular billboard is always always always advertising for vans. it even has "Vans" in the bottom right corner of the billboard.
i think revs shit is some of the most unique and innovative street art b/c he basically does an installation for each piece he welds into the street (ie the robot shooting itself in the head above).

i don't think the neckface billboard is a true streetart piece-- but i didn't censor the list. it was hit, by the way, by the splasher a couple of days after i took that shot-- so it was definitely a piece that stirred up some discussion in the community.
